When the World Was Young: The Songs of Johnny Mercer
You know more Johnny Mercer than you think you do. The man wrote lyrics to over a thousand songs, won four Oscars, and helped start Capitol Records, and yet most folks couldn't pick his name out of a lineup. As a fellow son of the South, I take that personally. So I'm putting together an evening around the man and his music, with Bruce Barnes at the piano. Coming 2027.
This Is The Life -March 2026
Aldervan returned to Don’t Tell Mama with THIS IS THE LIFE with songs and stories about love, parenthood, and a bit of public therapy (disguised as cabaret). Created with musical director Bruce Barnes at the piano, the set shifts from pop to standards to Broadway, leaving room for surprises and plenty of laughter. Special guest Kate Fitzpatrick joins for a Sondheim detour into Into the Woods. A surprise appearance by Joseph Daly made the evening a special treat. Following Daly’s Songs I Want to Sing, Now at Don’t Tell Mama, and earlier shows at Laurie Beechman Theatre and Duplex, this new performance is sharp, warm, and unapologetically human. Two shows took place on March 5, 2026, and on March 7, 2026.

Songs I Want To Sing Now
His 2023 show, SONGS I WANT TO SING NOW, traced his journey from Mobile, AL, to New York City in song and story, from single life to marriage and parenthood. The show took place in April of 2023, at Don't Tell Mama in Manhattan. His special guest was Tony-nominated, Emmy-winning, and cabaret performer Penny Fuller.
